As a result of the current instability and uncertainty in the stock markets, particularly the difficulty in identifying socially responsible companies, we have decided to temporarily discontinue the tracking of our stock averages. A recent study found that 2/3rds of CEOs interviewed admitted experiencing pressure to cheat about the company's earnings.
We will reinstate tracking of our averages once Congressional and other actions provide investors with ways of measuring corporate performance with some predictability and accuracy.
For those who are interested in past performance, we have retained our pages for the performance from the end of 1976 through 2001.
